This two-acre urban community garden on Milwaukee's north side is one of the city's best-kept secrets and one of the prettiest gardens to visit in Wisconsin.
The creation of this garden was a long time coming.
Between and , there was a construction freeway project planned and during this time, many areas of the neighborhood were torn down - only for the project to later be canceled. In , a garden was planted in the vacant space where houses had been deconstructed on 21st and Garfield.
The garden is named in honor of Alice Meade-Taylor, a Milwaukee advocate and former Executive Director of Milwaukee County Extension.
